Story so far… The Talay
Mmm where to start… there are so many factors that have played a part in where we are today, I could easily go back at least 20 years to complete the full picture.

Story
To when Sam first witnessed a surf style backpackers accommodation in Jeffreys Bay, South Africa, or 10 years ago when Tim’s parents converted their family home on the east coast of Australia into a ‘surfhouse’ B&B. So the seed was planted in both of us some time ago. A dream to create some accommodation here in Thailand where the surfer, traveller, nomad could find community, adventure, rest, nature and much more.
Which brings us to 2019, just prior to the Covid debacle, when through our incredible friends at Baan Santisuk (a children’s home in Khok Kloi), we were introduced to our future landlord, Baa Bom. Through God’s providence, it was immediately obvious to her and us that we were meant to work together, she too shared a dream like ours. She showed us her beautiful block of land, just 80m to the sandy shores of Natai Beach, which she’d been offered top Baht for. But she isn’t one to worship the coin, and she certainly wasn’t interested in seeing another hotel or villa pop up. But she was indeed interested in a project that would showcase the environment, the waves, the local culture, and endevour to serve the local community while doing so. We feel so blessed that we met her, and that she shared our vision for what could be!

And so began the even scribbles after the kids were asleep, the Pinterest scrolling, the dreamboarding, to try to bring to life the ideas in our heads.
To be continued…
